OT 3 C – One Body, Many Parts

Today, on this Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, we read part of St. Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians that compares the Church to a body (1 Cor 12: 12-30).  And just as a body has many parts, the Church is composed of many individuals.  And though each individual has a different function, are help make the Church function.

Sometimes, however, we forget this principal.  We begin to think that the gifts we have to contribute in building up the Kingdom of God on Earth are insignificant.  We then think we are insignificant.  But that is the wrong attitude, for all of us are important, and all of us have something to contribute though our time, talents, and/or treasure.

As we continue our life journeys this week, it would be a good idea to reflect on what gifts we have.  How are we developing these gifts?  How are we sharing them?  How are we helping to make this a better world?
