On this Feast of the Ascension of Jesus, we learn what Jesus told his disciples in the Acts of the Apostles:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” When he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight (1: 8-9).
Like the early disciples, we too receive the Holy Spirit in our Baptism and become disciples of the Lord. As such, we, too, are called to spread the good news of Jesus to all who will listen.

Father, I live with someone who is difficult to communicate with. This person is my adult daughter, who suffers from Bi-Polar disorder and has Lupus. Please pray for me and ask God’s spirit to continue to give me strength and love, so that I may better channel his message of love to her every day even when she doesn’t feel it.
