This is the Church of Our Lady of Suyapa in Cinco Pinos (Five Pines), a community of Curarén, F.M., Honduras. This community is almost a 2-hour drive from Reitoca.
This is a very poor church, but the community has energy and a fine spirit.
The first time I encountered this community was in February of 2019. The first thing I asked when I got to the little church was, “So, where’re the pine trees?” because the community is named for five pine trees and I saw no pines. The people explained that there were a clump of five pines on the road near the community, which I saw on my return home.
