This is the church of St. John Bosco in El Portillo, a community of Curarén.
St. John Bosco was a 19thcentury priest who founded the Salesians, an order devoted to the welfare of children and youth, especially the poor. Our own Cardinal Rodríguez is a Salesian.
The community of El Portillo is noted for its strong commitment to Catholic Christianity and excellent church leadership. In the past decade, electricity has come to the community.
