Just a quick note to fill you in our big news here in Reitoca, F.M., Honduras.
Currently, the parish in which I serve, San Francisco de Asís that is headquartered in Reitoca, is composed of 5 municipalities with 90 churches of our parish.
On September 20, 2023, one of the municipalities of our parish, Curarén, will become a new parish – Nuestra Señora de Candelaria. That is indeed big news for us, for Curarén has more than 1/2 of our parish’s 90 churches. So, our parish will be down to around 45 churches to take care of. The new parish will be part of the San Francisco de Asís Deanery which will now have 5 parishes: Reitoca, Ojojona, Sanbandgrande, Lepaterique, and now Curarén.
Our parish, San Francisco de Asís (which has the same name as our deanery), will now just have 4 municipalities: Alubarén, La Libertad, Reitoca, and San Miguelito.
Fr. Darwin Medina, recently ordained and a native of Reitoca, has been named as the founding pastor of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria.
