For the past 20 years, Fr. Bob has written a journal each year about what his life is like as a parish priest 2002 – 2018) and now (2018 – present) as a missionary priest.
His 2021 journal, Hormiga Junction: Journal of a Missionary Priest – 2021, is now available on Amazon.com in both paperback and Kindle editions. Look up: Books – Fr. Robert J. Kus – Hormiga Junction.
2021 saw COVID-19 continue causing havoc around the world, and President Putin of Russia threatened to invade Ukraine. In the United States, so-called “Patriots” stormed the capital because their candidate for president didn’t’ win, and Democrat Joe Biden became the second Catholic president in American history, and Kamala Harris became the first women to become the American vice president.
In Honduras, the people overwhelmingly elected Xiomara Castro as the first woman president of Honduras, a Libre Party candidate who defines herself as a “Democratic Socialist.” Like President Biden, President Castro is Catholic.
In the Diocese of Raleigh of which I’m part, six diocesan priests died, and my beloved former parish in Wilmington, N.C., the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary, got a new pastor.
These events, along with the daily life of Fr. Bob, are recorded in Hormiga Junction. Currently, the journal is available in English only.
