The parish in which I serve as the missionary vicar, is called San Francisco de Asís.  It is a mountain parish that covers 125 square miles and has 41 churches.  The headquarters of the parish is in the pueblo of Reitoca, F.M., Honduras.

In the pueblo of Reitoca, it is always hot during the day, making it a “perpetual summertime” place to live.  However, during the late afternoon and evening, the temperatures are beautiful, making eating outdoors inviting.

Some of the other parts of the parish are not so hot, for they are located in pine forests where temperatures are much cooler.

The photo above shows my kitchen ready for guests to help themselves to the “fixings” for hot dogs and hamburgers on the deck.  The name of my house, located on the side of a mountain, is called The Four Martyrs House,” named in honor or four Catholic missionary women from the United States who were martyred in El Salvador on December 2, 1980.
