Kwanza is an annual 7-day celebration of African American culture.  It begins on December 26 and ends on January 1.  “Kwanza” is an agricultural and harvest celebration that reminds folks to care for the earth and environment.

Unlike Hannukah and Christmas, Kwanza is not a religious celebration. The stamp features 4 colors associated with the flags of many nations of Africa: black, green, red, and yellow.

If gifts are given during Kwanza, they must include a book and a symbol of African American culture.
