Happy New Year to you and those you love!
January 1 represents a whole new page in our Book of Life, a day filled with beautiful dreams and hopes for a wonderful year. I wish that for each of you reading his blog today!
In the Catholic Church, this day is called the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. Despite this ancient title for Mary, this feast is not about Mary per se; rather, it is a very awkward way the Church had of saying that Jesus was fully divine, as well as fully human.
And since 1968, January 1 has been known as the World Day of Peace in the Catholic Church.
The theme of this year’s World Day of Peace is “Peace be with you all: Towards an ‘unarmed and disarming’ peace.” In Catholic Christianity, “peace” refers not just the absence of war. It also refers to working to create a world where humans show love for each other, where violence is absent, where people have human and civil rights they deserve as children of God.
The path to peace begins with each of us and spreads from there. What actions can you take to make this a more peaceful world?
I pray you have the most spiritually wonderful year of your life!
Happy New Year!
