Well, here we are on New Year’s Eve, a time to reflect on the past year and make resolutions for the upcoming year.
In every form of Catholic spirituality, daily “examination of conscience” is encouraged for everyone. We look back on our day and ask ourselves what mistakes we made, how we could have done better, and what we have done particularly well. But we also ask ourselves what we failed to do that we should have done.
From our reflections, we should be able to make some resolutions for the New Year, ideas to help us become better persons. From my own experience in life, I’ve discovered that keeping my resolutions few, simple, and measurable.
I pray that on this last day of the year, you don’t dwell on the mistakes of the past year. Rather, focus on the “new you” that is about to be born tomorrow, for New Year’s Day is a day for dreamers!
