Tomorrow, Catholic Christians celebrate the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. In Honduras, however, the celebration of the Holy Cross is on May 3rd.
For me, this feast is important because the little retreat center that I am building in Reitoca, F.M., Honduras is named Holy Cross.
The cross is a symbol of our Christian faith and the daily sufferings we are asked to carry with courage and patience as followers of Jesus Christ.
At all of the churches of our parish, there is an outdoor cross in front of the church, indicating that one is entering a “holy space.” The cross in the above photo is in front of the Church of San Juan Bautista in Azacualpa, a community of Reitoca, F.M., Honduras.
