In this photo, we see workers building a house across the road from the Devil’s Rock outside of the pueblo of San Miguelito.
Our parish always has construction going one. Sometimes, it is to build new houses or churches. Other times, it is to fix buildings that are already up. For example, in our parish, in which the majority of people live in poverty, there are always roofs that need to be torn down and replaced.
Many Hondurans, like others from Mexico and countries of Central America, go to the United States to work long enough to get enough money to come back to build a house and buy a pickup truck. Houses are generally passed down from generation to generation.
The Devil’s Rock is a large rock on which the devil comes and dances at night when nobody is looking – at least that is what the legend says.
