In this photo, we see young people carrying the flag of Honduras and related flags on Independence Day, September 15. This photo is from the Independence Day parade in Curarén, F.M., Honduras in 2019.
Independence Day celebrates Honduras’ break from Spain in 1821 and becoming its own nation. Next year will be the 200th anniversary of Honduras!
All through Honduras, from cities to small villages, there are celebrations of one kind or another on this national holiday. Usually all children and youth who are in school are part of the parades for the day. There are often fireworks, special food, speeches, dancing, and the like.
