Today, people of the United States of America (USA) are observing Independence Day as a national holiday.
Independence Day, more commonly called “The Fourth of July,” commemorates the founding of the United States of America in 1776. So, this is the 245thanniversary of the nation. Though it started with 13 colonies, which became states, today it has 50 states.
Typically, the day is celebrated with family and friends enjoying picnics, going to the beach, watching parades, and in the evening, watching fireworks. When July 4 falls on a Saturday, the nation celebrates the holiday on the preceding day, and when it falls on a Sunday, as it does this year, the nation celebrates it on the following day. Americans definitely want to have a day off from work, and many don’t ordinarily work on weekends.
