This is the Nativity Set of our parish’s church in San José Pedrero, a community of Curarén. The name of the church is San José (St. Joseph).
Catholic Churches of the world often have figurines and decorations that reflect the local community. In this nativity scene, for example, we see cactus plants and palm trees, both characteristic of this part of the parish.
And in poor parts of the world, people decorate with whatever they happen to have on hand, for displaying fancy, matching store-bought figurines is out of the question. So, in this Christmas scene, we see a variety of figures including Santa Claus.
