On March 25, 2023, the feast of the Annunciation of Jesus, 58-year-old José Vicente Nácher Tatay was consecrated a bishop in the Basilica of Suyapa and assumed the role of Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Tegucigalpa.  Cardinal Óscar Rodríguez, upon turning 80 this past December, officially retired from the position that he held for many years.

Archbishop Nácher is a member of the Congregation of the Missions, also known as the Vincentians.  He was born on April 10, 1964 in Valencia, Spain.  He holds a Licentiate in Sociology from the University of Alicante, and studied philosophy and theology at his order’s major seminary in Barcelona and at the Faculty of Theology in Cataluña.  He was ordained a priest on October 26, 1991.

Archbishop José Vicente has worked in Honduras for many years and has been regional superior of the Congregation of the Mission in Honduras since 2016.

We welcome him to the archdiocese and pray that he will be a holy servant-leader for this wonderful archdiocese.

In the above photo, we see Archbishop José Vicente on the left with Cardinal Óscar Rodríguez.  We wish nothing but the very best for Cardinal Óscar who has done so much for the priests and people of Honduras for so many years!
