In today’s reading from the Book of James, we read:
“Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves.
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained by the world” (James 1: 22, 27).
If we were putting James’ thoughts into words today, we might say “Talk is cheap.” That means it’s easy to talk, but not so easy to put one’s words into action. So if we truly believe in the dignity every human being as a child of God, then we are called to live the Christian commandments: feed the hungry, clothe the naked, care for the sick, forgive your enemies, bury the dead, visit those in prison, and the like.
In the photo above, we see some folks visiting our Clínica Santa María in Reitoca on a special “pediatrics” day. The pediatrician is on the far left, and standing next to her is Nurse Yesenia Amaya.
Thank you Father for reminding us of the true meaning of being a follower of Jesus. Bless you.🙏
