From the time he was ordained a priest, Fr. Gustavo Gonzalez has served in the Deanery of San Francisco de Asís.  Among his assignments was as pastor of the parish of San Francisco de Asís here in Reitoca, F.M., Honduras.  He then served as pastor of the parish of Sabanagrande.

On December 10, however, Father Gustavo left our deanery to become pastor of the parish of Santa Teresa de Culcuta in the nation’s capital, Tegucigalpa, city of 1.8 million people.

Before leaving our deanery, Father Gustavo celebrated a Mass with other priests serving in the San Francisco de Asís deanery, including me (Fr. Bob).

We wish him the very best and thank him for his service in our part of southern Honduras.

The photo above is of Father Gustavo at a luncheon in the pueblo of Curarén which was split off from the parish of San Francisco de Asís to become the new parish of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria.  The luncheon was to honor the founding pastor of the new parish, Father Darwin Medina, a native of the pueblo of Reitoca.
