Today is the feast of three archangels: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Though we often call them “saints,” they are actually angels – archangels to be specific.
Archangel Gabriel is the patron of communications such as radio, television, Internet, and the like.
Archangel Raphael is a patron of the sick, nurses, physicians, matchmakers, marriages, travelers, the blind, and Catholic Studies, among other things and places.
The archangel that is most important to us here in the Archdiocese of Tegucigalpa is the Archangel Michael, for he is the patron of the Archdiocese of Tegucigalpa and the City of Tegucigalpa (capital of Honduras). Michael is also a patron of mariners, police, and soldiers.
In the photo above, we see Rosman, a Delegado de la Palabra from Reitoca, putting a newly-refurbished statue of St. Michael the Archangel back in a niche about the altar are in the church of San Miguel in San Miguelito, F.M., Honduras.
