Today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This feast day celebrates Christ’s love for us, a love so great, that he gave his life for our salvation.
This feast, officially known as the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, is celebrated on the second Friday following Trinity Sunday. It has been part of the General Roman Calendar since 1969, but its first known celebration was in 1670 in Remmes, France.
