The above photo is of the health center of San Carlos, a community of the municipality of Reitoca, F.M., Honduras. Of the 40 churches of our parish, San Francisco de Asís, San Carlos is the most distant. When it’s the summer or dry season, the drive by truck to San Carlos is about 2-and-a-half hours one-way. In the winter or wet season, the drive by truck takes about 3-1/2 hour one-way. The name of the church is the same as the name of the community, San Carlos.
Unlike the pueblo of Reitoca, which is hot all the time, San Carlos has a much different climate. Within minutes of the center of San Carlos, one is in beautiful pine forests.
