This is the statue of St. Joseph holding young Jesus. It is found in the Church of San José in Lodo Negro, a community of Curarén.
Unlike people in the United States, people here in Honduras like to add fabric to statues and, in some cases, hair as well. If you look closely at this photo, you’ll see that someone painstakingly knitted little hats for both Joseph and Jesus. That’s good, for Lodo Negro’s climate is rather cool. In fact, it is so cool that coffee can grow here. Now Joseph and Jesus can stay warm and cozy.
