This is the church of El Higuerito, a community of Reitoca, F.M., Honduras. The community is also sometimes called Las Vegas. The band from this church have “Las Vegas” on their shirts instead of “El Higuerito.”
Unlike many of the Reitocan communities that are high in the mountains and at least an hour drive by car, this church is within a 15-minute drive from Reitoca and on the main road from Reitoca to Tegucigalpa.
The name of the church is Our Lady of Mount Carmel, but most people call it “Carmen.”
I first visited this church when Fr. Ivis was pastor of the parish and Fr. Alex was still a deacon. So, I’ve known this place a long time.
