This is the church of Mandastá, a community of Curarén. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and usually just called “Carmen.”
The first time I encountered this community was in August of 2018. I had just been in Honduras as a missionary priest for two months. The people of the community gave me a very warm welcome as I celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation for Confirmation candidates and then celebrated Mass.
This was also the first community where the Delegado road to meet me on his horse.
