This is the Church of Marías del Norte (Marys of the North). The church sits on the side of a mountain much lower than the road, so if you don’t know it’s there, it is very easy to pass it by. This community is part of the municipality of Reitoca, F.M., Honduras.
I first visited this church in May of 2019 on the feast of St. Damien of Molokai. It is a very humble place but with great spirit. When I visited, the people told me they only had one Delegado de la Palabra but no catechist. When people need catechetical instruction, they go to the church community of Guadalupe.
One of the women of the church told me she has a relative who was a parishioner of mine at the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary when I was pastor there.
