This is the sanctuary of the Church of San Juan XXIII (John XXIII) in Plan de Rancho, a community of Curarén that has a climate known for its fresh, cool air.
This photo was taken on the feast of St. John XXIII (October 11, 2019). The people of the community, who are very devout and friendly folks, had a procession into the church, led by guitars and singing and palm branches. Naturally, there were firecrackers in honor of their patronal feast day. The people decorated the church with beautiful tropical flowers from their gardens, for here in Honduras, we have flowers all year long.
