From August 1 through 6, 2023, the Catholic Church is celebrating World Youth Day. This year, it is being held in Lisbon, Portugal.
During WYD, young people throughout the world come together to celebrate their faith and each other. It is held about every three years, and the highlight of the event is meeting with the pope. The event is held in different countries.
One of the beauties of WYD is that young people get to experience the universality of the Catholic Church, that it is much bigger than their parish or diocese or even nation. It is a way to deepen faith and recommit to the Lord.
Although it is a Catholic event, young people who are not Catholic are welcome to participate.
Please remember to pray for the folks who will be experiencing World Youth Day in Lisbon this year.
