This is the Church of San Antonio in the community of the same name, San Antonio. The community is part of the municipality of Alubarén.
Like all of the churches of Alubarén, San Antonio is noted for its excellent leadership and very friendly and welcoming people.
I met this community before I was a missionary priest in Honduras, on one of my visits to the parish. As pastor of the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary, the sister parish of San Francisco de Asís of which San Antonio is part, I was interested in visiting some of the churches the parish. The first time I visited, San Antonio church was in the early stages of construction and didn’t yet have a door or windows or flooring for the church.
Today, it is a beautiful sanctuary filled with light. It is always kept in tip-top shape, thanks to the strong leadership and pride the people take in it.
