On this Sixth Sunday of Easter, we read this from the Gospel of John:
“Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me’” (John 14: 23-24).
The question that immediately comes to mind is, “What are some of the commandments that Jesus taught us?” Here are just a few that I list here for our reflection:
Forgive your enemies;
Welcome the stranger;
Give drink to the thirsty;
Feed the hungry;
Visit those in prison;
Console the sorrowful;
Care for the sick;
Give to the one who asks.
There are many more Christian commandments that Jesus gave us. Sometimes, people minimize the Christian commandments because they are not listed on a tablet as are 10 of more than 613+ Hebrew commandments. But it would be wise to learn what, exactly, are the Christian commandments by carefully reading the four Gospels.
