This Friday, October 11, Catholic Christians celebrate the feast day of one of the most influential popes of the Christian Church, John XXIII.

John XXIII, noted for his humility, sense of humor, and love of people, is most noted as the pope who called on Catholic Christians to return to their roots.  Perhaps the biggest change was allowing Masses to be celebrated in the ancient form of the Catholic Church, that is, in whatever language the people used in their everyday lives.

In the above photo, we see the altar area of the Church of John XXIII in the Curarén community of Plan de Rancho decorated for his feast day.
