This is Thanksgiving Day in the United States of America, a day when Americans give thanks for the many blessings God has showered on them. For many Americans, this holiday is second only to Christmas which is, by far, the most important holiday of the year for most.
Today, many Americans will gather as families to celebrate traditional customs such as watching the annual Thanksgiving Day parade from New York City, cheering for their football teams, and eating too much turkey with all the trimmings.
But whatever customs you and your loved ones have, be sure to include taking time to thank God for your blessings. My blessings are too numerous to list, but among the top ones are my family and friends, my health, energy, education, priesthood, and the ability to serve the people of Honduras as a priest. As I celebrate Mass today, I will remember all of the people who read this blog.
Happy Thanksgiving!
