The parish of San Francisco de Asís is a rural mountain parish spread out over 248 square miles.
To get from one location to another is a challenge for most folks, for most people do not have money to buy a pickup truck for travel. And because there are no paved roads in the parish between locations, a regular car could not handle the brutal mountain roads. In fact, even pickup trucks need a complete set of tires every six months or so.
In the above photo taken outside the church of San Marcos, a community of Curarén, we see three modes of transportation that are seen in our parish: pickup truck (mine), horse, and motorcycle. The most common mode of transportation, however, is by walking. Another popular mode is by buses that were once school buses in the United States.

I remember when you took this pic, this was the parking lot, but the Mass was packed standing room only. You gave a blessing to all the new Delegados de la Palabra that morning.
