On October 1, 2018, the healthcare staff of our parish held a formal dedication of Reitoca’s first (and only!) pharmacy – Farmacia San Francisco de Asís (St. Francis of Assisi Pharmacy).
The staff of Clínica Santa María decorated the outside of the building with a red ribbon strung between two IV poles. Mayor Marlon and Fr. Bob cut the ribbon as a gentle rain began to fall. After entering the new pharmacy, Fathers Gustavo and Renán (who were priests in Reitoca at the time) blessed the pharmacy, which was decorated with balloons.
After the blessing, all of the guests went to the back porch of the St. Mary House for snacks and conversation.
The entire community of Reitoca, and the surrounding towns and villages, are thrilled that they can now buy medicines without having to travel two-and-a-half hours (one-way) to Tegucigalpa to get needed help.
