Happy Thanksgiving!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the United States of America, one of the most important of all the holidays.

The purpose of the day is to give thanks to God for all of our blessings.

My gratitude list is too lengthy to be shared.  But certainly, at the top of the list are my family and friends, my Catholic Christian Faith, my vocation as a priest, the ability to serve the people of Honduras, my education, my ability to write, and the gift of health.  Truly, God has showered me with more gifts than I can count.

But, as Jesus reminded us, with these blessings come many responsibilities.  Specifically, we hear Jesus say in the Gospel of Luke, “Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more” (12: 48).

So, at this Thanksgiving time, I encourage everyone to stop and reflect on all the blessings God has showered upon you.  Then, give thanks, and make a plan to share what you can with others.  Happy Thanksgiving!
