Today is the Feast of St. Sebastian, patron saint of Reitoca, F.M., Honduras.

Very little is known about Sebastian except that he was a Roman martyr in the 200s.  In art, he is often portrayed as a handsome young man tied to a post shot with arrows.

In this photo, we see people from the Reitocan village of Azacualpa celebrating the visit of St. Sebastian to their community.  Customarily, a statue of St. Sebastian visits all of the villages of the municipality of Reitoca during the weeks before his feast day of January 20.

In addition to the pueblo of Reitoca, the municipality of Reitoca has the following villages that have churches of our parish, San Francisco de Asís: Agua Caliente; Azacualpa; Azacualpita; Cerro del Señor; El Higuerito; El Limón; El Rodeo; Guadalupe; Guanijiquil; Llano Samalares; Quebracho; Rebalse; Sabaneta; Samalares Abajo; San Bartolo; San Carlos; San José; Santa Cruz; Marías del Norte; Saracarán/Cafetales; Tabanco; and Yigüilaca.
