This is the Church of Plan de Rancho, a community of Curarén. The name of the church is San Juan XXIII (John XXIII).
Before the people built this church with cinder blocks, they had had churches made out of adobe. Three times, the adobe churches were washed away in storms. Finally, the people of the community were able to build a solid church from the cinder blocks and metal roof, thanks in great measure, from the financial help of our sister parish, the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Today, the church provides a beautiful center of this community.
