Today is the Sixth Sunday of Easter, and it for the first time in quite a while, it also Mother’s Day in all 3 major nations of North America: Canada, Mexico, and United States, on the same day. Canada and United States always celebrate this holiday on the second Sunday of May, while Mexico always celebrates it on May 10, regardless of what day of the week that is. Here in Honduras, we also celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday of May each year. So, Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers, mothers-to-be, grandmas, stepmothers, and foster mothers! I hope this will be a very special day for you! May God bless you abundantly, for yours is a very noble vocation!
Today is also the Sixth Sunday of Easter. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us how he can tell who loves him. He says, “Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him” (John 14: 21).
